For the uninitiated, I want to explain this in my own words. If SOPA or Stop Online Piracy Act gets passed, all of us who use the internet in our daily lives would be affected. People who like to share content, people who view shared content and people who use this content that can be found online would be affected.
A simple video now can’t be shared through Youtube or other video sharing sites for that matter because of a potential violation like for example through a music playing in the background which is an intellectual property. Even users who share this kind of content can be sued and put to jail just by sharing content online.
Social Networking sites would be crippled down all because most of its content which is being shared by users might violate copyright infringement laws.
Those blogs, video sites, social networking sites etc. where you can express yourself, your opinion, your creativity, your talent would be shut down and/or censored.
SOPA = No Freedom of Expression…
