I visited a Youtube a few days ago and was surprised that the default size of the video on youtube is now 16:9 or the widescreen view.

I thought my browser was going looney again and is displaying funny objects again, but I tried to refresh the page only to find out that the widescreen view is now the default size of Youtube videos.

Youtube changed it’s default video player format to 960 pixels wide and users now need to make sure that they would upload high definition videos using the MPEG4 format, MP3 Audio, a video resolution of at least 480×360, and a frame rate of 24fps or higher.

Though you can still embed videos on its used-to-be size, Youtube now recommends videos to be uploaded using the widescreen format.

Youtube is not the first to implement this kind of video size but they were just following suit to other video sites on the worldwide web.

Quality of videos being uploaded are going better and better thanks to the vast technology.
