Windows 7 | Is It Worth It?

There have been a few reviews of the leaked Windows 7 Beta which questions the usability of the Windows 7.
In my opinion, one of the biggest questions for the upcoming OS from Microsoft is the compatibility of Windows 7 to previous applications that have existed even before and the early days of Windows XP.
I have not been a Windows Vista fan, nor have I used Vista ever. I have had some few experiences though with Vista when some of my friends ask for help with their PC running in the Windows Vista platform.
Compatibility, one big thing that made Vista flop. Don’t ask me, but at the early days when Vista was still named as Windows Longhorn, I was anticipating on upgrading from it, but I was really disappointed with its incompatibility to many certain applications that it would render most of the applications I use daily, useless. I have a laptop that is specifically made to be ran under Windows Vista, but I ditched it and reinstalled my Windows XP on it, because I am more focused on usability against aesthetics.
With Windows 7, compatibility is out of the question, but rather its usability to old school Windows XP and earlier Microsoft OS users. Windows 7 was made to be used for ease according to the reviews but because of the fully new interface, Windows XP veterans and older would rather experience a kind of culture shock.
Was it really made to unlearn some old tricks that you have learned from the old OS?
Well, a lot though, but it is for the benefit of the users. Developers did not just made up something, to have something new, but rather it was made for improvement.
We will know the real verdict for this upcoming OS if it would really live up to the hype that it brings.
It only has two paths to take, either it becomes another successful OS just like what Windows XP savored for the past 5 to 6 years, or would it drop rock bottom just like the Windows Vista.
What about you? Would you upgrade to this new installment once it becomes available??

my mom would be the judge of whether or not we’d upgrade to Windows7, techie mom. tsk. BUT i’m pretty satisfied with Windows Vista actually, okay naman siya for me, both aesthetically and technically. The only problem, like you said, is the compatibility. I think you can work through ‘em now though, upgrades have been coming up for installation of programs so that they’re compatible with Vista. oh well. I like it. As to Windows7, yep, we’ll see
