Many people do know how to do this imei thing on their mobile phones, but cerainly, what is it for? Well if vehicles has plate numbers and people have id’s then mobile phones have this thing called the International Mobile Equipment Identity.
Yeah right! a series of meaningless numbers to us, but most mobile phone store resellers do know what this is for and in one glimpse they will have a clue on how much they will buy your 2nd hand mobile phone and if it is still good to be bought or if it is good to be shot through the garbage can. Haha.
Yup the serial number in mobile phones is so long that you will have no clue on what it means, and how do mobile phone resellers here in the Philippines use this imei information? Here it goes…
Get your mobile phone and in the front screen type #*06# and then the imei or serial number pops out of the screen. So what do you do next? Well just count the digits until you get to the 7th and 8th digit of the imei. This two digits are your clues on where your mobile phone is made of.

if the digits are:
00 – means that the phone was made from the original factory of the brand of your mobile phone (considered as the best quality.
01 or 10 - means that the phone was made from Finland and is considered to have good quality.
08 or 80 – means that the phone was made from Germany and is considered to have fair quality.
02 or 20 - means that the phone was made from Emirates and is considered to have a bad quality.
13 or 31 or 03 or 30 - means that the phone is made from China and is considered to have the worst quality.
So check your mobile phone now to know what quality your mobile phone has.
