The Nokia C3 Unboxed Hands On!

Friendly Folks at Nokia Philippines just sent me a review unit of the Nokia C3 which was released this July 2010 here in the Philippines. Its a series 40 (S40) Smartphone with a full QWERTY Keyboard that somehow looks similar to the Nokia E63.
First look and I know that its going to be a phone which is catered to those who love the online multimedia services much like Facebook, Twitter and emailing. The unit that was sent to me was the Slate Grey Nokia C3 though it looks to me like its a dark bluish phone but it comes in three colors, Slate Grey, Hot Pink and Golden White.

Light phone which is catered for those who are tight on their budget, or those who would want to have some upgrade from their old mobile phones but would want to have the connectivity that is the current trend right now. I mean Facebook and Twitter right on the fly, and email and online messaging, quick status updates, you know what I mean… Total built is good, everything is snappy, no creaks or anything whatsoever.

Facebook and Twitter and Ovi of course are all integrated in the Nokia C3, ready to be used all you need is the credentials and you can be able to login immediately…

The Nokia C3 has a shiny finish and has a tactile qwerty keyboard that is decent and big enough to get accustomed to quickly. Comes with a BL-5J Li-ion battery which I think would last longer though it is the similar battery that my power-hungry-geek-haven-masterpiece Nokia N900 uses.

Has a 2.0 megapixel camera with fixed lens, but sadly though I cant see any Flash…so that means no flash photography in the dark! and the fixed focus lens somehow has got me intrigued, this could mean that the photos being taken with the Nokia C3 might not be the satisfying ones that is worth a second look… also it does not have a secondary camera, which means no video calling… awww. Oh and its also not 3G supported but you can still be able to browse the internet through the edge connection or the Wireless Lan.

Oh, and another thing that I noticed when I turned on the Nokia C3 was that the backlighting is bright and sharp, well it was superb! Never expected it to be this clear even on a bright daylight.

The Nokia C3 has a micro usb slot which means its expandable for up to 8gb, though I was surprised that it does not charge through the micro USB port… funny right?
That’s it for now, Im gonna be reviewing some other features of this Nokia C3 as days go by, for now Im gonna explore everything in this Nokia C3, and the good and bad things that you should expect on this Consumer Series smartphone by Nokia — The Nokia C3. This is just the overview, stay tuned for the next posting regarding the Nokia C3.
oh and by the way, The Nokia C3 is priced at around 6k+ at this moment of posting (promo).

super delayed push email.
no push notification for facebook and twitter
almost great chat client with minimal user mod-function and frequent disconnection issues
Smart Telecom stopped advertising Nokia C3 Nokia Messaging. I don’t exactly know why but I’m thinking its because
a. Push Email doesn’t PUSH not unless you refresh it every so often, which is not push, but a mere manual refresh
b. Smart EDGE on Nokia C3 is uber slow. Coming from a bbcurve 8520 edge user, the difference is huge. Of course I know that BB datacompression is way better but really, nokia messaging is slower than dial ups during my elementary days.
c. Chat client problem which disconnect from time to time moreso when idle
My settings, as I have availed nokia messaging, is on ALWAYS ONLINE hence the push wanting tantrum in me. but at 10 pesos a day, who am i to complain?
