Pinoy Bloggers were recently invited by SM Marikina to test their new Wi-Fi service, which was of course offered for free. There were aroud a hundred bloggers or so that were invited in the Live blogging event and there were also a couple of Walk-In wi-fi testers that participated in the event. I also got Interviewed by GMA QTV for the first time! Watch the Clip at the end of the post. . The Wi-fi access in certain parts of the mall vary, for those people who arrived early, they were the one who were able to savor the Wi-Fi speed goodness that Sm Marikina can offer, but as the number of bloggers grew, the speed of their wi-fi test beds came ot a crawl, and oftentimes become disconnected. I was just able to use their Wi-Fi internet connection for just around 30 minutes, and after that as the number of Wi-fi testers crowded the single connection that SM Marikina offers therefore overloading it and making it unusable. I was able to check my email, able to surf to different sites, but there came a point that I would have wanted to know the estimated speed that their Wi-Fi offers so I tried benchmarking ...

It's a fact that Burger King has been known to be one of the first fast food branches who showcased free Wi-Fi access. It's also a fact that we were deemed to be the Blogging Capital in Asia as what was said in the year end documentary Upload last December 2008. So here is another way to blog if you are out of the comfort of your home, so the used-to-be blogging without internet connection can now only be half truth. Reminder though that some Burger King Branches here in Manila does not have Wifi Access, and not all BK Branches in Manila that does have Wifi Access do cater high speed internet. Since most people abuse Burger King's Free Wifi access its internet connection speeds comes crawling down, rendering BK's wifi unusable, but not as often though so you would need to be at the right time when you come to your favorite Burger King Branch. I have read that there is a way to use your Windows 7 powered laptop to become a wifi hotspot. Its just that its something like an easter egg, or something that Microsoft failed to push through until the debut of Windows 7 but is still available and included on the Windows 7 OS. The methods are fairly simple since you would just be installing a program to your laptop, notebook, netbook with Windows 7. First is you would need to have the Connectify Program for you to be able to share your internet connection. Download it on the Connectify site. I knew it, its been a week now and Globe wireless broadband is sick again. Tsk tsk tsk, symptoms of selective browsing and slow loading are manifesting yet again after around 2 months of flawless internet connectivity. I have seen a couple of people from different forums are complaining about the crappy connection. From where I am standing, i experience slowdowns at certain times for around 6 days already. I tried reverting back the original settings, making the dns value of my zte mf600 set to auto, but the connection came worst. Good thing, Open DNS helps decrease the crappy connection of my internet, since calling the customer support representatives of Globe Innove is the last thing that I want to do. If there are any globe wireless broadband users out there that are experiencing the selective browsing syndrome, then why not try to change your zte mf600's DNS to manual and enter the following IP address. If you don't want to use the Open DNS values, you can use another Globe Broadband DNS value. Its been 2 months since I have purchased and used the Encore Wireless Router G (ENHWI-G2) from CDR - King. So far so good, no hints of impending problem at all. Sometimes the router is on round the clock, and it still works at its peak, no drop connections and whatnot. In my opinion the range of the Encore Wireless Router G's signal is around 30 meters here at my place using its bundled 2dBi dipole antenna along with wall and room interferences. I personally think that this router can still increase its capabilities if I would opt to replace its antenna with a longer one, also available on cdr - king or by using the Windsurfer Wifi - Booster. As for me, I really got a bang for the buck by getting this wireless router from cdr - king. I got this Wireless G router for a whopping 1,380.00 PHP. Cheapest so far compared to other branded wireless routers such as D-Link and Linksys to name a few.
