Okay its been like 5-6 days already since I have had dibs on the Nokia C3 which Im currently evaluating and reviewing right now, and first off I have decided to go straight to its core function feature, the Social networking prowess that this entry level smartphone boasts about.

Its great to have Twitter, Facebook and Email to be integrated into the Nokia C3, no apps needed to be installed, ever, it comes out of the box and considering that it does not have the 3G coverage it still can be able to let you enjoy your social networking life while you’re on the go wherever you are at a push of a button with the use of either edge connection or wifi..

The Nokia C3 Facebook integration feature is useful enough for you to be able to get the latest news, status updates, messages and whatnot right on your Nokia C3, much like the Facebook Mobile though this one is in my opinion a bit faster since it only loads all the essential things that you mostly check out on your facebook page. Heck you can even upload photos straight from the Nokia C3′s camera after capturing it from the device

Next the Twitter integration that lets you post tweet updates on the fly, be able to see the latest tweets and everything that is also essential for your tweeting needs.

Next up is the Email Essentials which is supported by the Nokia Messaging which makes you much more connected on the go, as it can be able to connect your Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Windows Mail, Ovi Mail or even your own mail (personalized) so long as it supports either POP3 or IMAP4, yes dudes and dudettes, Imap4 is supported.

And then the chat feature of Nokia C3, its also integrated and supports 3 services namely, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi Chat, nifty!

Oh and another thing that caught me by surprise, the Nokia C3 supports both the classic Inbox messages view and the chatlike threaded theme which is aptly called the Conversations… and yes Nokia has started making everyone adapt to this kind of messaging.
All these for an entry level Phone… more than what you bargained for right?
whew! thats all for now, mind you that Im using the Smart Trial for Nokia messaging, and its awesomely quicker than I thought it would be. I have no idea if Globe also supports the Nokia Messaging though.
So thats it for now for my review of the Nokia C3, let me know what you think down the comments section below, lets have some discussion going on and stay tuned for another Nokia C3 review round up this time with the multimedia features that the Nokia C3 can offer.

hey again. there’s always that capital E on my top screen and i finally found that it means EDGE. it somehow disconnects my wifi from home and connects there instead. does smart charge for edge? i tried looking around smart’s website but haven’t found anything.

most certainly! it would work much better on WiFi

it’s just useless since i’m usually in a place where there is wifi. so my last question, setting my my email and push email will work with wifi and without smart’s nokia messaging?
thanks so much for your help

Yup, the best solution if you dont want any surprises every month… Well, that “kind” of a surprise is what anybody would not want to get… So Wifi would be your best friend in this case…
Anyway, for those who are using Smart and would want to check or update their status on their social networking profiles, their best bet to save money is to use the Smart Nokia Messaging.
I just hope Globe does the same service, or even much better in the near future.

i don’t mind not being able to access them when i’m mobile or when there’s no wifi, so i don’t think i’ll be using much of the edge
on that note, if i am correct, i will just get my emails when there IS wifi, therefore not bloating up my bill? the least thing i’d want is a surprise every month.

Nope you dont need to subscribe to Smart’s Nokia Messaging to be able to access your networking accounts and emails, but be ready to spend a lot since it would eat up your load credits if you are on prepaid and would bloat your bills if youre on line subscription…
You can be able to use the internet even without 3G, it has EDGE which is a good enough connection for browsing through mobile sites.. If you are confused with EDGE you can learn more about it on this link >> http://www.gsmarena.com/glossary.php3?term=edge
that just means that even if you dont have a WiFi connection, you can still use the EDGE Connection which has been present on Nokia mobile phones years ago even before 3G was implemented.

hello, i was planning on getting the c3. however your information confused me.
i currently have the htc magic so it being a google phone, i get my emails regularly.
is it true that you need to subscribe to smart’s nokia messaging to access all your networking accounts and emails?
is there no way around it of just relying on wifi to connect to them since it has no 3g anyways?

during off peak hours sir i have push. but during times like this, i will receive a notification for an email sent to me 4pm at around 815pm.
haha. not that i need the push email thingy that much, simpleng social climber lang naman ako. but it frustrates me to avail something thinking that it is really something only to experience that it was nothing as claimed.
anyway, 40 pesos BIS vs. 10 pesos Nokia messaging, pagtyatyagaan ko na lang. thanks man! (=

Yeah, I also noticed that, No push notification for FB and Twitter, you need to refresh from time to time to be able to get the freshest updates…
But regarding the Push email, I seem to have no problem with that, It seems to update by itself from time to time on my end, maybe it has got something to do with the settings though I did not change a thing on to my settings as a way to evaluate the Nokia C3′s Push email using Smart’s Nokia Messaging… It seems to update on my end whenever there is a new Email, I even rechecked that I was connected with Smart Internet and not with Wifi.
Regarding the Smart Edge connection, I do agree with you, which is why I can recommend using the wifi capability of the Nokia C3 whenever possible and make the Smart EDGE connection as your last resort if you really need to go online on a zone where Wifi is absent…
Chat Client disconnections when idle is really present and well, it wont bother me much as it is possible to reconnect again if you need to use it again… I guess its Smart Telecom’s way to utilize their 20/day or 300/month virtually “online anywhere anytime” scheme… But when Im not idle, I still haven’t yet experienced any disconnection problems.
Well lets see, with these flaws from Smart, there could be better options from other competing telecom Companies in the near future…
I just do hope that Nokia makes a Mobile Phone that can be able to use the Wireless Internet Sim Cards that both Smart Bro and Globe Wireless Broadband uses for their Huawei Modems so that we can be able to showcase the True-Online-Presence-All Day and All night… – and of course much more faster than Edge connection at a flat rate..

reposted: parang this is a better venue for my observation. sir lj, kindly negate if not at all factual..
super delayed push email.
no push notification for facebook and twitter
almost great chat client with minimal user mod-function and frequent disconnection issues
Smart Telecom stopped advertising Nokia C3 Nokia Messaging. I don’t exactly know why but I’m thinking its because
a. Push Email doesn’t PUSH not unless you refresh it every so often, which is not push, but a mere manual refresh
b. Smart EDGE on Nokia C3 is uber slow. Coming from a bbcurve 8520 edge user, the difference is huge. Of course I know that BB datacompression is way better but really, nokia messaging is slower than dial ups during my elementary days.
c. Chat client problem which disconnect from time to time moreso when idle
My settings, as I have availed nokia messaging, is on ALWAYS ONLINE hence the push wanting tantrum in me. but at 10 pesos a day, who am i to complain?
