My First Sony Experience Is With My Sony Playstation 2

As for me, there were many first Sony experiences, ever since I was born up to the present, and for sure in the coming future.

Somehow, I managed to grab a hold off on a photo when I was a child, and little did I know that I was experiencing one of the best gadgets back then.

I was listening to my mom’s Sony Walkman right there. It was 1988 and I was just 2 years old back then. Hmm, I don’t know for sure where that walkman is now, but what I know is that it lasted for so long that it even made it to the era of Disc Players.

But, I won’t talk about that Sony walkman since even though it is my first experience of that kind of product, I can barely remember any memories with it, and besides, I wasn’t a music junkie, but a console gamer / enthusiast.

What I would like to brag off is my memorable moments with my Sony Playstation 2.

They say when you obtain something without having a hard time, that something wouldn’t be any worth to you once you have it, but if you obtain something by sacrificing the things that you can’t live without, then you would treasure that thing that you have been wanting to have.

THE ORDEAL

I got my PS 2 thru my own allowance back then, I remember not having to eat during breaktime, not eating lunch, having to walk from home to the jeepney terminal, and vice versa, I did not even bought any bottled water back then, what I do was to take a sip on drinking fountains back at school, hell even sometimes there aren’t any water coming out from it.

I sacrificed my health in order to save money. Since I was living with my parents, my allowance was given on a daily basis, unlike my classmates that get theirs on a weekly or even monthly basis. Difference?? Well if a class suspension or a holiday comes, that particular day wont be counted as a school day, so no allowance for me, compared to those who get it in weekly or monthly, even non-school days are counted in their allowance.

Sometimes there even comes a time that I would really need to shell out some money for school projects, photocopied documents, and whatnot. In order to survive in Nursing, you must shell out some to get some, and those were something that I can’t ignore since those documents and projects are essential.

So where would you find me at my free time then? At Ever Recto, since my school was just beside recto (FEU), you would find me there, Outside the PS2 rental shop. Standing. Watching other students play PS2 on their leisure time.

I kept telling myself, I’m gonna get my own PS2, and hell I am going to play with it for as long as I want without having to pay for anything.

That particular shop kept me focused on reaching my goal.

AROUND 4 AND A HALF MONTHS LATER

I just found myself looking at the package list for PS2 at EYO on Greenhills with my girlfriend. Damn those 4 months seemed like forever but it was worth it, and the great thing about it was that it was a win-win situation. How? Well, I get to shave off some weight and I get to buy my own PS2 Console. Not bad right?

ESCAPE FROM THE REAL WORLD

Since the time I have had my own PS 2 console, it served to me as my outlet, my escape from the real world. After school, I head on my way home and play for a couple of hours just to release stress. It made me forget about the stress that I experienced at school, and my weekends and holidays were never the same since my PS 2 came. It made me forget about how hectic the week was, and it made me forget about how problematic the coming week will be.

ADDICTUS AND VERSATILE

I eat PS2. I drink PS2, I sleep PS2, I breathe PS2. Hey! Even if we had our own DVD player, I still used my PS2 to watch those DVD movies. We have our own CD players, but I use my PS2 to play music CD’s.

That was how addicted and how I loved my console, and that was how my PS2 lived up for it, by being versatile as I was maximizing it to its full capacity.

PAMPERED

Since then, if I have had spare money at the end of the week, I would buy some accessories for my PS2. Hmm, I have bought a fan for my PS2 to keep it cool as I was using it for sometimes a whole straight day, only lunch, merienda and dinner would make me stop for a while. I have bought a USB fan for it, 2 kinds.

….

I have bought a set of dust filter for it. “Hey, get that dust off my console!” it helps me maintain my PS 2 console and making it last for a long time. Even Forever.

I have bought a PS2 stand for it. I bought the one with light on it, since the ordinary ones aren’t big enough to support the PS2 plus the one with light is flashy enough to make my PS2 console shine, and besides, Playstation 2 was made to be played standing up even though you could still use it flat on the surface.

.

Of course I bought a PS2 bag for it, so that if I won’t be using it I could keep it safe inside the bag, or if I would be going somewhere, I could bring my PS2 console along with some game titles and its accessories with me. Since my PS2 was the slimline version, it was very portable and very light.

.

I bought a 3rd party wireless controller for it since there was none made by Sony specifically for PS 2 not until the PS 3 arrived. Plus for the fact that I play PS 2 on different positions, somewhat kind of “kamasutra” *Lol*, while lying down, standing up, Indian sitting, etc. I just need mobility and freedom that is why I bought a wireless controller for it.

I bought a Dance Pad for it. Hell, playing PS 2 would make anyone a couch potato. So why not play it in a useful way, by shedding off some of the pounds that you acquired while playing PS2 for a long time or you can use it for exercise early in the morning. Sound good right!? Plus you can even learn the steps for Dance Dance Revolution if you wanted to practice and show off your skill on arcades on malls, making you look like an expert.

Feeling a little bit like an action star who is going to rescue your Damsel in Distress? Fret no more, I also have a Guncon for my console. Now that’s what I call arcade gaming. Now I don’t have to spend some money to buy expensive tokens from arcade in malls in order to be like and feel like an action star. With my Guncon and PS2, I can be an action superstar myself, for as long as I like. Bang! Bang!

.

.

.

I admit that my PS2 accessories ain’t complete yet. I am still panning to buy a guitar for my PS2 so that I would be able to play the Guitar Hero series on my PS2 and in the future in PS 3, also back then I was planning to buy a steering wheel to spice up my racing game addiction, but from what I see, and heard, racing games aren’t as good as when you are controlling it with the PS2 controllers themselves. So I opted out from buying it.

PURSUIT OF HAPP y NESS

Thanks to my mom, my PS2 is pampered, not because she provided me my allowance, uh-uh, my allowance comes from my dad. The reason why I thanked my mom was because she held my “love and passion” for console platforms ever since I was a kid. I never ever did have any console then, though we have had appliances that were selling like hotcakes back then just to be called “IN“. I can remember her yelling at me whenever I get my hands on my neighbours or friends with their family computer, game boy, and even my mom’s own game and watch. Who would forget those!

Time passed by, family computer phased out, game boy phased out, game and watch phased out, sega phased out, hell, even PS1 phased out. Every single season that a console generation phased out, and every single season that my friends have had those “IN” consoles while I was left outside of other people’s home watching them, drooling over their pleasure of playing with their own consoles, my enviousness grew overtime.

That was why when my PS2 came, it was so pampered from me.

Talk about my own personal pursuit of happYness.

PERSONALS

Of course I also have my own favorite games, you can never avoid that. I have so many on my list but I will only mention 2 of the best games that I would love to play on my PS2 over and over and over… and over.

.

.
One was the God Of War Series – Hack and Slash Gaming has blown into proportions when PS2 came, but this one was so off the hook!! It got me daydreaming about the game while at school. Why? Because this game maximized the capacity of the PS2 console system. Its graphics is by far the most flawless of all the games available on PS2 (its not an opinion, it’s a fact) (proof here)

.

.
Other was the Gran Turismo Series, at the present Gran Turismo 4

Of all the racing games that I have played on the PS2 console, Gran Turismo was the most realistic. A friend of mine did not liked it and this is what he said to me “wala ako taste maglaro ng racing game na ganyan ka-realistic” and true enough, every detail in the game was polished. Even the tip of grasses on the side of some tracks are polished one by one, not mentioning the cars that were involved in this game, by far which is the most extensive of all the racing games on the PS2 and PS1 format. Imagine a whopping 650 cars spanning a century of automotive history. Then a hundred tracks from across the world, yup! They are not computer generated, even the tracks alone really do exist, then the Spectators reacting to your every move, cool soundtrack listing. Truly this one favorite of mine can be deemed as Racing in all its breathtaking, utterly merciless glory.

And guess what, those two faves that I liked are made by the maker of Playstation themselves, Sony. Yup! The makers were Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). No wonder it maximized the full potential of the PS2 system, from graphics to gameplay.

Plus both games were on the Top 10 Best Looking PS2 Games of All Time (Proof: click me)

Every gamer knows this, specially PS2 gamers, and of course they are exclusive only to the PS2 platform, so other console gamers >> Eat thy heart out!

COINCIDENCE

I used to play my PS2 on a another TV brand, until the tv’s display messed up, what a poor quality, then we switched to Sony Wega (seen in the video that I embedded) and up until now, it never ever showed signs of any imperfections. Another lesson learned.

REVOLUTION

Thanks to my beloved PS2, my my gaming life has changed, it even revolutionized the gaming industry for the first decade of the 2K era, and to be considered as the most dominant platform for in its heyday, is something. It threw out Nintendo Gamecube and the first Microsoft Xbox of the roof. And hey, this little baby of mine isn’t out of the topic still, since I can use it to play online, now that is another thing that its heyday competitors learned from, Microsoft Xbox had it but flopped, now Microsoft Xbox 360 has it, Nintendo Gamecube didn’t have it, now Nintendo Wii had it.

Today Sony was revolutionizing the digital industry again. Its latest PS3 comes with a new pack that its competitors didn’t have, the Blu-Ray media. Now it has been told that it would phase DVD’s out just like what DVD did to phase out VCD’s.

Blu-Ray technology is another story, but here is what I can say, – Sony PS3 ang nagpauso nyan! Ang manggaya Panget!

But I am damn sure! Every Gaming console would just follow suit because it’s the next big thing!

I don’t know if that is enough for me to explain how significant a Sony product is to me. If I would continue then this whole post won’t be finished not until after the year ends. Hehe, well that’s a bit too exaggerated but that is how it is. Sony products speaks for itself.

No ifs, no buts. If a man doesn’t have anything to die for, they aint fit to live. As for me, Sony products are worth dying for. Would you rather beg to disagree with me and the rest of the whole world?

And yeah I’m gonna get myself a Sony PS3 sooner than you think.

But as for now I’m gonna stick to my little baby PS2. Why? Well because…

It definitely gave significance in my life just like the Sony’s World’s First Motionflow 240Hz LCD TV: Bravia Z450, because in the near future when I would find myself playing with my PS3, I would also want to harness its true raw power, with the help of the Sony Bravia Z450, it willdramatically enhance my gaming experience up another notch or two. Sony PS3 is made to be played not just standing the console up, but also to be run under a High Definition Television to see its full raw strength. A true console gamer needs it, just as human needs to answer when nature calls.

Sometimes i am amazed with people who are in their 40′s and beyond but still play video games. parang madali ko sila makasundo hehe
