Ka – Blog “Kablag!”

This show has been airing at GMA – 7 for around 2 months already. it’s a weekly show that airs every Saturday morning.
I thought back then that ka-blog was a show about blogging, bloggers and the latest on pinoy and international blogosphere, but hell I was wrong. I had a glimpse of a bit of their show, hmm around 3 – 5 minutes or so, but I got disappointed, same as pinoyblogero, so disappointed that it made me click on another channel on the remote.
I expected it to be what its title says, “blog”, a show about blogging, but it’s not, instead it is a show about adolescent lifestyle may it be fashion, high-tech gadgets, sports, and relationship advice. I my opinion GMA would have been more successful if they resurrected 5 and Up, at least viewers will learn more about it right? Or if they have had changed the title to a much more appropriate one.
I have read that there are quite a number of bloggers that have also been disappointed, while others defer the idea that there would be any show that features blogging.
Well, as for my opinion, it wouldn’t be impossible anymore since blogging has been growing rapidly for that past few years in the Philippines. Some says that the idea for a show about blogging would not “click”.
One even had an analogy that it would be like a TV show for radio programs. Well that individual has a point since internet is a media itself, so it would be like tv for tv, internet for internet.
But isn’t it that TV is still a very powerful media, up until now even when internet has boosted on its own way, television is still a very powerful way send your message across since most have access to TV whereas not all has access to computer. Still as of now, there are many Filipinos who haven’t been into blogging yet, and there were a percentage of Pinoys that does not know what blogging is.
Though we have a show here in the Philippines about tech, gaming and internet like Convergence for example, a show about blogging would still be a good one.
As far as I can predict, it would boom in the future, actually the future is now, and the blogging community has been starting to grow bigger and bigger, even news shows sometimes say that they’ve got an information from a blog, a recent example would be when Francis Magalona was having his chemotheraphy and tv patrol featured his blog wherein everything that is happening to him through his fight against leukemia was published from time to time.
A tv show about blogging would appeal to more pinoy individuals and would even encourage non-bloggers and people who does not know what a blog is to have an idea what blogging is about, how powerful a blog can be.
I think, the first show about blogging here in the Philippines would get all the fame in one click, since it would be a first here in the Philippines and for Pinoys.
But as far as the show ka-blog is concerned, my verdict for it would be KABLAG!
