Ok so, I woke up around 10 am and to my surprise, my internet connection was crappy.. very. I can see that my wireless modem can connect to the internet, but I could not browse anything (well maybe a few, as in few, 2 sites to be exact, google.com and lycos mail). All the bad things, nightmares, whatever you call it, that other globe wireless users are crying out load, are beginning to sunk in to my head. All of the ramblings are beginning to sink in my head. I was so frustrated that I was tempted to call the customer service representatives of globe, but HELL NO!, these representatives or whatever they call themselves, does not know a thing! and I mean it. Why? well they all have the same script, “Our system is having service upgrade / please monitor it for 24 to 48 hours / our technician will arrive at your place within 24 hours”… and the like. Well so much of those candy coated lies!! Don’t assume that customers who complain does not know anything (most of them do, mind you), and dont assume that you (csr) know everything, matter of fact its the other way around. I know Im mean but its either you agree with me or disagree with the rest of the world.
Im sorry about those csr’s that really do know what they are doing, but its just that you will be branded like the incompetent ones since the fault of one usually is the fault of all (specially if its a bad thing).
I always do try to fix everything myself first before calling for any help, in this case, the crappy selective browsing of globe wireless broadband. What I did was to tinker with the settings of my ZTE MF600 modem to see if it can somehow solve the problem. Successfully I managed to get an internet connection, but still is ot fast enough to browse the usual photo heavy or video heavy sites, but just enough for me to browse for help online through forums who also share the same problem.
And of course like what they say “Google is your friend”. I was able to fix my modem (ZTE MF600) plus with whopping speeds that exceeds the planned speed that I applied for. What I found out was that it was a DNS server problem. So instead of auto configuring the DNS properties, I set it manually thru the modem. Below is the list of DNS values that works for Globe Wireless Broadband users:

Well I’ll still monitor if there will be any changes in the speed and browsing behavior. So if there are any of you that has the same problem but still can’t fix it, just leave a comment and I’ll help you soon as I can.

Which of those dns nameservers do you use? I currently use OPENDNS for my Globe Broadband conncetion.

I using OPENDNS too justin, its just to good rather than using globe’s nameservers, its fast and very reliable. It also blocks potential hazardous sites

Problem: Selective browsing!
Yes, your right, globe broadband technical support representatives does not know anything about fixing your connection. They said there was a problem with the modem then after a month of consistently following-up they surprisingly said that the problem was fixed without even touching my modem.. How did they do that? Same problem anyway.
I use Ubuntu for my OS and firefox as a browser. I gave them that info. One tech support suggest that I change my browser to IE. Why? I have no problem using firefox browser in SmartBro… He or she, I mean he then also told me to install antivirus… Hello? I use Ubuntu!
The script was right, they always say the same thing. They dont know anything about helping you.

I have the same problem with globe broadband.
imagine having a download speed of only 10 kB/s!

Well;at first part ur wrong if ur talking to CSR and then ur complaining with ur broadband concern they and then ur area was affected to “SYSTEM RESTORATION” they nothing can say but “plz do monitor ur cnxn within 24/48 hrs” you know that evry single words of CSR were scripted, but if u call on globe TSR hotline they could help you much better and they will conduct troubleshooting!! make sense right?! LOL

it depends though since there arent any hotlines directed to their TSR, and that is the big problem about them, if there would have been then i wouldnt be complaining.
But since i havent had the time to talk to a TSR then I wouldn’t really have any correct complaints to them.
Only to their CSR though.

me too,by the last week of october up to now my dload speed of 900kbps went down to 100kbps to 200kbps using speedtest.net bandwidth test,i use torrent software to download movies and games,before my dload speed is 200kbps now its only 2,5,10kbps.then the selective browsing bothers me so much.
ive tried changing the DNS but still my dload speed still sucks big time.
im really pissed off!!! im so frustrated i want to burn the my modem!!!
what should i do,if anyone,anybody pls help me,the tech support of globe broadband always tells me to turn off my modem,then turn in on again on and on and on and on and on,!!! gusto ko na nga murahin ung operator eh!!! wah!!!! help me please,thnx!!!

i have the same set-up as Mr. Jamez Diaz (i.e. Globe wireless broadband, data only), and i have to say, i’m envious of the download speeds as shown in his Speedtest.Net. i’ve done all the tweaks mentioned (i used the OpenDNS values) but still, browsing is slow. i also made a Windsurfer “antenna” and even moved the modem near our window (the RSSI light is now steady, whereas before, it was blinking, and sometimes it would be off), but it doesn’t seem to help.
am i missing anything?

@rodelm172 >> well oftentimes location also counts, i am located here in manila and from my location i can get a good steady RSSI from my modem even if i am in the ground floor of our house, maybe because there is a globe tower near our area, plus the fact that globe connections (both wired and wireless) here in our area aren’t that crowded. Actually there arent any wired internet service for globe here in our area, plus around 95% of the internet connections here in our area are from pldt mydsl and smart bro, maybe that is why i am getting good speeds because of less competition.
@johndomz>>try to reverse the opendns, use the secondary opendns values as the primary and vice versa. plus a tip is check your ip by going to whatismyip.com and check your ip, if it is 203.177.57.170 try to reset your modem until you get the 203.177.91.252.
based on my observations the ip 203.177.91.252 of globe wireless broadband is more faster and more reliable than the common 203.177.57.170. if you somehow achieve to get the 91.252 ip address then try to browse the internet and see for yourself, and a heads up though since this is also what i am doing, whenever I get the 203.177.91.252 ip, i would never turn off my modem again until the next time that my modem changes its ip back to the common 57.170 ip. in that way i can stay on the good ip address for a long time, as of now it is my fourth day without my modem being turned off and so far no problems.
note: if you are using a router you also need to reboot it so that the opendns values on your modem would also apply to the router

can’t catch the Ip 203.177.91.252,it took me 1 whole day but still no 203.177.91.252.
i called CSR again and told me that they have some problem in their facilities here in Tarlac,so again,they told me again to wait for 24 to 48 hours to monitor my net.
and still sir james,ive tried reversing my DNS it still the same old crappy speed of my net.no change whatsoever.

@johndomz, maybe that is just half truth, there may really be some problems, but it been so long though, why not try other servers such as the private dns or those other globe dns available… but i cannot guarantee though that your speeds would skyrocket, but atleast your surfing experience would be a little bit more acceptable. how much is your speed when tested under utilities.globequest.com.ph? compare it to the results of speedtest.net

Another thing is, i dont know why but maybe there are certain users who can easily connect to the 203.177.91.252 ip address. like me, sometimes, after waking up in the morning, i turn on my modem and presto! i got the 203.91.252 ip address.

the technician of globe broadband internet visited me for the checking of my internet,its confirmed na gnagawa nila ang system nila,pinapalitan nila ung mga equipment nila na galing sa china,pangit daw kasi,at nagdadagdag sila ng mga additional sites for their broadband internet,
both wired and wireless pati landline daw damay sabi ng tech sakin,affected areas are bulacan to baguio and they still have no idea when their system will be fixed,so im just gonna wait for it to be fixed,
so tawag na kau sa billing para mabawasan ang bill sa mga days na sira ang service nila,hahahahha!!!

yun lang mahirap jan bro, walang definite time kung kelan maayos.

kaya nga bro eh,badtrip smart,sana nagstick nalang ako sa smart bro ko,smart bro ko ala ako prob tapat lang namin ung tower,pero speed ko sa smart bro pumapalo lang sa 380,mataas na ang 400,pero sa gobe plan ko is data lang,512kbps pero sakin umaabot ng 1mbps,hehehe,sabi naman ng customer servce pwed naman ata ibawas sa bill,kaso hndi pa ako tmatawag sa billing department baka mamya wala nanaman kamuang muang makausap ko mafrustrate pa ako lalo,hahaha…

yup ganun talaga sa smart, kahit sino tanungin ko walang prob. sa connection, pero sa speed sila nagkakaproblem.
siguraduhin mo sa makakausap mo na the bill would really be deduced, kasi most often than not, they are all talk and less action, get their names and tell them that you would file a demand against their name since they were the one who made a pact with you that the right amount would be deducted.
kung kaya mo takutin, then do it, takutin in terms like sabihin mo nakarecord ung conversation nyo and yun nga, mag fifile ka ng demanda pag hindi nangyari yung sinasabi nila..

I would like to try the stated settings sana kaso di ko maaccess modem ko>..<
And oh, by the way, when I reboot my modem my PC would be connected to the modem for about 3mins and after few seconds it would pop me that I have been disconnected. And for another seconds, I would then be connected to my modem again. I have no idea what is happening.
Things that I did:
Modem is near my window
No electronics near my modem
I’m in the 3rd floor of my apartment
Rebooted my modem for so many times since last night
All of the above statement were done just to connect to 192.168.0.1
I’ve used Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari, pero di tlga ako makakonek.

you can only access the modem if its connected, make sure that the connection does NOT say limited connectivity. Are you also using a wireless broadband?
and about the problem about recurring connecting and disconnecting of your modem, i have had the same problem back then, when i diagnosed it, I noticed that the Lan card in my motherboard was a bit loose so what i did was to open my cpu and re-inserted the lan card to my mobo.
well that procedure is only applicable if you have a lan card since some mobo does have lan connections preinstalled in the motherboard.
so the question is what kid of lan port do you have on your motherboard? a lan card? (the one that can be detached, similar to a modem card, usb 2.0 card wherein you will have to use PCI slots to attach them.)
or
an undetachable lan port (pre installed in your motherboard.?

Open DNS values are my preferred values, but currently I am using the Special DNS Values, kasi minsan I want to visit a site pero blocked siya sa Open DNS, such sites are game sites, gambilng sites, proxy sites that are often blocked by open dns. iba iba yang dns values na yan, may mga iba na mabibilis may iba na mbabagal, (im talking about ung globe dns) pero ung open dns tska yung special dns, never ko pa nexperience yung pagbagal, palaging globe lang ang salarin sa pagbagal ng internet ko.
kaya special dns na lang muna ang gamit ko, same speed but mas more freedom.
Depending naman sa IP, may mga accounts na hirap kumuha ng 203.177.91.252 na ip (minsan whole day na wla pa din) so ung 203.177.57.170 ok na rin based on my experience. Pero it would still be depend on pa rin sa experience mo.
I just avoid ung 203.177.12.76 na ip since sa experience ko un ang pinakamabagal. But its all up to you pa din naman.
but rest assured, changing your dns than that of globe’s can literally save you from all the trouble they are causing…

are the steps that we did in manual DNS set-up are the same with going to network connection properties then Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) properties then use a DNS Server rather than obtain DNS automaticall?
will this have the same result with modifying it in ZTE modem itself?

do i have to turn off my modem to take effect the changes in the DNS settings? because what im doing is resetting my the setting in the 192.168.0.1 until i got 203.177.91.252 then after that i will change the DNS setting from your instructions. but if i will turn off my modem, i might loose the 203.177.91.252 IP address.
Thats why i’m not resetting the modem at all.
after submitting the DNS changes then close the browser or restart the PC, it still obtain what i have change in the DNS setting.
would that be OK?

on your first question, the settings can be also applied to through your computers tcp/ip configuration, but it would not work, since yung ineedit mo is yung settings ng modem mo and not the settings of the pc. you can apply the same values when editing it in your pc but nothing will happen. And since ZTE Mf600 is made to be used with your pc config set to automatically detect, setting it to manual would not result into anything.
makakaconnect ka sa modem, pero walang internet.

even if you submitted the changed dns, it will not take effect until the next restart of your modem, now in order to retain your settings in the dns, change it first, and then aim for the 203.177.91.252 ip address. kasi kung uunahin mo ung ip before the dns talagang mawawala yung ip address mo kasi you would really need to restart the modem for the dns values to take effect.

i think changes has effect without restarting the modem. i don’t know. i not so sure.
that’s why i am asking a site that is banned as you have tried to see if DNS setting take it effect without resetting the modem.

i have tried earlier at home the special DNS but my connection suddendly stop.
all websites i want to go to has a pop up message.. “Cant go to http://www….blah blah blah”.. i don’t know if it’s because of the DNS or from the globe signal itself. but i think its from the DNS because when i reset the modem with different DNS, it connects already..

Hi Jhann,
you never have to worry, you are not alone, I think all of the internet connections here in our country always goes slow everytime the office hours or what we call peak hours are on, since everyone is using the internet simultaneously unlike in midnights when there are a lot more less users using the internet in the country.
Simply put, network congestion and low connection limit (up to 3Mbps) is always the culprit whenever your connection slows down at peak hours.
Unless you are living in south korea, wherein they take for granted the 90Mbps that their country are enjoying, even if all koreans would go online simultaneously, their surfing speeds won’t be affected in any way.

Hi yesha,
it depends, if you have a router, then you also need to restart your router to make the changes in your modem to take effect.
To change the IP, just restart your ZTE MF600 over and over again until you get the IP address that you want.

Can you provide a consistent and reliable solution other than resetting the modem in order to get this IP (203.177.91.252 << Mandaluyong)? some sort of reconfiguring the ZTE MF600’s configuration (deeper than the available options from http://192.168.0.1/). I can attest that this IP is stable and consistent compared to 203.177.57.170<< Makati.
Kung meron, I would think twice the termination of my subscription. Sana din, ma un-banned sa irc DalNET ang mga IP addresses na to. In either IPs, naka AKILL sa lahat ng DALNet IRC Servers.. Hayzzzzzzzz….

Hi,
Well there arent any modifications that I can recommend rather than tweaking the options on modem’s address.
The modem kasi is configured as is, wala ka na ibang pwedeng i-tweak dun except ung mga values na kelangan sa APN Configure.
I have some idea of using another kind of modem, a much more customizable one, since any HSDPA modem will work naman kasi yung sim card ng modem naman ang nagpapatakbo nung internet.
The question though is that I do not know kung anung modem ang pwede magamit. Other than that, wala na ibang way to tweak the modem, kasi napakasimple nung prinovide ng globe satin na modem, kaya napaka limited ng pwede mo magawa for tweaking.
Worst case scenario na lang para magamit mo ng maaus yung ZTE MF600 na modem mo is by going to another place na malakas ang signal pero hindi congested. Kasi if for example malakas nga ang signal sa place mo pero marami naman kau na nagaagaw agaw sa signal nung globe, useless na rin.
Kaya ung mga may bad experience talaga when using this wireless internet from globe are most often than not, case to case basis.
And regarding your question sa irc, maski man ako pahirapan sa pagconnect sa irc, underNet naman ang ginagamit ko, and there is nothing we can do with this kasi Globe’s wireless broadband is ran under proxies, meaning marami taung nagshshare sa ip address and connection.
So kung matatapat ka sa crowded ip, big chance na babagal ng internet connection mo.
just imagine isang malakas na connection of internet and a very very big LAN, ung lahat tau naka connect sa LAN na iyon and nagshshare ng iisang internet connection, ganyan ang ginagawa nila sa wireless broadband nila, but still, case to case basis pa rin talaga.

Hi to all..
Actually I’m also finding a solution on how to maintain the IP address to want we want. As far as i have searched, it’s very impossible for us to have the IP to what we want because the ISP provider will be the one who will assign an IP to us. I don’t know. im not sure yet. I haven’t searched a lot for that. The only possible solution for the IP is to request to globelines business center and request for the Static IP and you will pay Php770/month and thats very expensive.
Please make an update for anyone having a solution on having a Static IP.. Thanks!..

I think extending the height of your external antenna will not make your internet faster because the antenna provided by Globe is designed just for wall mounting unlike the antenna by smart bro, it is designed to have a high altitude to meet the nearest tower for receiving data.
Believe me, I have tried to extend the height of the antenna but i got same signal from where it was before. I also observe the signal from my neighbor and they also have the same signal but their antenna is just wall-mounted.

About reporting the internet problems to NTC. I think it’s useless because i believe nowadays, all ISP providers that offers unlimited internet are having all problems and a lot of issues nowadays maybe because of a lot of people here in the philippines are using the internet nowadays and I believe that every ISP today have a lot of issues regarding slow connection on daytime..
Let us just wait and see how they will upgrade their systems to accommodate a lot of subscribers..
Infairness to my internet for the last 2 weeks, it’s quite fast compare to the first month is was installed. Its download speed was increased.
The only problem of mine by now is the IP address.
Whenever I’m connected to 203.177.57.170, the connection is very intermittent. The connection has a lot of request timed out and page cannot be display though it’s download speed from our location was also improved the connection is still choppy. but whenver i’m connected to 203.177.91.252, it’s very stable and i’m contented with that. but the problem is, when i turn off my computer and not use it for a long time like night to mornings, i loose the 203.177.91.252 and back to 203.177.57.170. I have to reset the modem until i am connected to the stable IP address. but is very tiring because everytime you will use the computer, you need to reset the modem to have the stable connection..
so if anyone already knows how to have static IP without paying anything, please help.. help each other to resolve our problem..

My points of view from that, i think the service speak and suft has still not perfect or still lacking on the system to provide us the good quality of service.. look we are sharing on the 3 of their IP address. thats unfair especially from their wired plan..

Hi to all,
I think i found a solution but im not sure if it will be good for the pc.
I tried to reset the modem until i got the stable IP and i didn’t unplugged my cpu so that the data light will be ON until this morning. as i have checked, I maintained the IP address to what i want..
But the question is, how it will affect the CPU. maybe it will shorten the life span of the CPU or any other specs because the electricity still flowing on the machine even if its turned off.
Im not so sure..
Please provide an idea regarding the unplugging of the PC.. if any of you have the idea.. Thanks!

Well, as from my experience, I never unplug my cpu on the socket even if it is turned off.
My technique in maintaining my modem on even of not in use.
Actually I already have my modem stayed ON for about a month already, contionusly never unplugged or turned off.
My precaution though is to remove the rechargeabe battery if you would do this technique since it will shorten the modem’s battery lifespan.
A heads up though, even without turning it off, it somehow reconnects itself from time to time and you would need to reset your modem again to be able to get your desired IP address.

i think its better if you will put DNS on the network itself and not in the zte modem setting. i have tried and observe the difference.
try to goto cmd then ipconfig /all..
when the dns is placed on the zte apn settings, the dns in the ipconfig is still 192.168.0.1..
that why i preffer to put it in the network places itself..
aside from seeing it in ipconfig, i have tried to test the speed when it is place on the local area connection and its faster than in the zte modem..
im not so sure but thats what i have tested and my exprerience..

And Oh, when i use the OPEN DNS settings in the modem, some websites aren’t accessible. Like friendster or youtube for example. Is that normal?

im not sure if there is a 512kbps plan in a wired connection of globe. they offer 384 and 1mbps.. i have a friend and they are in 1mbps.. it much stable offcourse than the wireless. it’s like a pldt mydsl..

hi rayven,
i suggest you to upgrade to a wired service of globe. it’s much different from their wireless. offcourse theres always connection issues especially nowadays. any ISP today has a lot of connection issues. but always it depends on your location if what ISP is the best in your location.
But i believe that the wired plans of globe especially (1mbsp) is a lot better than it’s wireless. i also have a friend using it. offcourse there are times that the connection is down but its very seldom unlike the wireless. connection is crappy most of the times. for using it in gaming, it’s quite good. there are compatibility issues but still it is better than the wireless..

I just came from the Nearest Globe business center yesterday afternoon informing them that I am decided to terminate my subscription and demanded to free me from the obligation of disconnection charges, etc… Along with our conversation, a Globelines employee there mentioned about “WiMax” AFAIK from him, this is available already in key cities i.e. davao and I suppose manila also. He cited na by March this year, available na rin ito dito sa locality ko. Is there any body here used this service sofar? He claimed it is faster and uses better than ZTE devices.

Yup WiMax is much more better but the problem is not everyone have had experience with that, so in turn you would look like a guinea pig for their new services, that would give them feedback on certain problems that would arise with the new WiMax

have submitted my Disconnection letter to Globe wireless center and called the CSR informing them that I quit globelines and I will pay no more. I need to go back SmartBro kasi mas lesser EVIL yun. 384kbps Max lang but consistent at least. I can broadcast WEBCAM thru YM, I can use Teamviewer though my poison IVY wont work, Ok nalang yun. Hope they are serious with their 3days processing.
At least I can use OpenDNS with peace of mind

Yup, madalas talaga ng mga naka open dns eh may problem, kaya minsan napaka hassle gumamit ng open dns, kasi may mga sites akong gustong i-browse na hindi pwede.
the quick fix is just to use the private dns 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2

@ Rayven: OpenDNS BLocked Globelines subscribers only because the service of Globelines is crap: We shared at most 3 IP Adresseses nationwide distributed all throughout their subscriber. But when u subscribe to providers that give u a unique IP for every subscriber like BayanTel / PLDT myDSL, you will definitely admire the usability of OPenDNS – THe Web content filtering feature i.e. you definitely dont want to see your kids or your 13 yr & below brother/sister are viewing hundred of thousands of PornSItes like r3dTUbe, etc…agree??? In OPenDNS, in few clicks, you are DONE! Yes PUBLIC DNS like 4.2.2.1 & 4.2.2.2 are indeed stable but it does not have an add-on capability of content filtering. That’s the best of OpenDNS.

Ang problem na hindi maka connect kaagad in Online Game servers, yahoo chat servers, irc, etc… i think its because Globelines network cannot resolve Domain names effectively. Try mo observe pingging non-common domain names such as games1.games.fy7.b.yahoo.com, login.yahoo.com, etc.. ma observe nimo na at first few packets sent mag RTO yan then later mag stable na. worse, minsan mag error “cannot find the host” on first try ng ping. The second try maging OK na. therefore, pag nag connect ka sa website or server at first try, malamang mag “Page cannot be displayed” or “cannot find server” ang errors. on the other side naman, since common ang IP address i mean maraming naka share sa Internet IP natin. Suppose the same IP tayo and magloko ako sa server na yun like misconduct or abuse, and the site ADMIN banned my IP address, so if vi-visit ka sa site na yun, banned ka rin kasi nga same tayo ng IP (Globe’s Setup) case to case basis yan. Sa akin for example, I really want to be in IRC (DalNET) kaya lang in either IP addresses (203.177.91.252 and 203.177.57.170) naka AKILL sa lahat ng DALNet servers because of previous IRC users (Globelines Subscribers) mis-conduct that resulted to such AKILL. Kaya, I doubt if may user dito na makakapag log-in sa DALNet without using psyBNC/Proxy/SSH/etc… JUST PLain Globelines IP. Kaya sa problem mong Ma-DC ka kaagad, maybe marami nang connection sa server using the same IP. So resolution mo dyan, pwedeng mag subscribe ka ng proxy and use that but I cannot assure kung mag work efficiently. THe best is to move to another internet provider.

Another thing KJ, what kind of online game do you usually play? kasi ako, I do play at times ng online games such as cabal online, MU and whatnot, minsan DOTA thru GG Client, pero never naman ako nakakuha ng error sa pagconnect unless may mga bagong patch ung games na at first may problem talaga but with a few simple tweaks naaayos naman…
It really depends.. talagang case to case basis yung situations, but rest assured na hindi ka nagiisa, maraming iba jan din na may same problem as you..

Ive been playing RO online , Cabal, and sometimes my little daughter plays the audition online , napansin ko lang na kapag un 203.177.91.252 ang nakuha ko na ip halos walang kahirap hirap pasok agad ako dun sa game . Minsan naman out of frustration gumagamit na lang ako ng pldt na dialup eh mas mabilis pa mka connect hehehe . So there baka nga ganun na lang gawin ko ipa terminate ko na un service ng globe once na magkaron d2 sa place ko ng available na dsl slot ng pldt , mas mura saka mas mukhang konti ang nag rereklamo . I would just like to know if you guys can download from rapidshare? Whenever I try to download something in there, there comes a messages that goes ‘ your ip address blah blah is still downloading the file. Please wait until the download is finished’. I haven’t download any before that and how come the message like that appears? Are there some tweaks available for these? By the way, i am a wireless broadband only subscriber.

That is one of the disadvantages of having a proxy ip address like that of globe wireless broadband….
Maraming nagshshare sa ip address ng wireless broadband users kaya mahirap magdownload sa rapidshare as in… there are other workarounds… hmmm im gonna post a tutorial on the workarounds…
subscribe ka sa mailing list ko para maupdate kita ng tutorials on how to surpass ung download ng rapidshare.

Ang Globelines provided device (ZTE MF600 ) has routing capablity. Just setup your client-PCs to be of the same Network class of that device (192.168.0.xxx) and set your gateway to 192.168.0.1. You need to setup DNS as well (bahala ka na anong gamitin mo). Kung may router kana and want to insist to set it up, set your LAN’s IP Class different from that of Globe e.g. 192.168.1.xxx for your LAN where gateway is the set IP address of your router. You can now access both your router, and the ZTE MF600 (192.168.0.1).

id like to ask, where’s ur location and hows ur connection lately? i also made my own windsurfer but it seems to give me no speed change? how were u able to boost speed up to 1500kbps? my max is only 580kbps… although i understand that my subscription gives me up to 512 only.
regarding DNS servers, what could possibly be the best server? will it be location dependent? i also noticed that my connection is slower at night, so is this normal since almost every subscriber use their connection at this time?

Hi,
A Field Support Tech guy from globe came into my house to follow up on the problem that I called in about (intermittent connection)
He seemed Techie (w/c is rare for a Globe Tech) so I informed him that i have tried changing the DNS server on the Modem itself. He said that unfortunately Globe has a way of tracking it mainly because the modem uses SIM technology.
Anyway, I kept on chatting w/ him and before he go, he configured the tcp ip dns in network connections to 202.52.162.40 and 203.177.6.100 (which I think he is not allowed to do ) and it did the job for me.

That’s good to hear that it worked for you, I think he next observation that you should try to anticipate is the Image compression which is bound to happen from time to time when using Globe DNS servers.
And about them tracking the DNS server because of the SIM Technology, well I don’t believe him or even them, if they can then they should be able to fix your DNS Settings even without having someone go to your place and change it for you, unless you are using the WIRED internet by Globe.
I was able to know since the DNS Value 203.177.6.100 is mainly used for wired services of Globe
Actually by using Open DNS or the private DNS you are even giving them the favor since you are not choking their Globe DNS which in turn does not force them to compress images on their servers.
But either way, that is good to hear that your connection is ok now

I also tried port forwarding. Lahat n yata ng port number na posibble gamitin ng VPN nalagay ko na. Wala p rin. =(
And meron lng akong napansin. I would believe that torrent client application is using different port number other than port 80 (correct me if I’m wrong). Bakit pwede akong gumamit ng torrent with no problem? and their using 24289 for uTorrent and 15902 for BitTorrent. Somebody calls me from globe and ask her what would be the reason why hinde ako mka connect sa VPN, she answers “sir, kasi port 80 lng ung open and ur subcription is for purely browsing lang”! ~Do i have to believe her?

ofcourse Low Ping are better than High Pings, its just that I do not know how low is low ping and how high is high ping…

what kind of online games ba ang nilalaro mo?? sa akin ok nman ang online gaming walang lag, I play cabal online, mu online and Dota on GG client pero so far no problems pa naman…
Well yan talaga ang side effects kung baga ng wireless internet, mataas ang Download speed pero super baba ng upload speed…

there are various ways to lower the ping… madami din kasing factors why mataas ang ping ng isang connection, like location, connection, hardware and software factors.
everything else relies on each other, kung naka pldt mydsl ka nga pero ung pc mo is rigged with memory hoarding softwares and luma na ang hardware mo, walang kwenta din ung connection mo na mabilis.
ganun din vice versa, kung maganda ang specs ng pc mo pero mas mabagal pa sa dial up ang connection mo, mataas na ang ping mo hirap ka pa gumamit ng internet…
from my end, kahit naka wireless ako and mataas ang ping ko (which is given na sa mga wireless connection) mataas din ang specs ng Rig ko kaya nacocompensate nya yung taas ng ping thus making my online gaming tolerable enough.

My ping values are not stable pero ang average nya is around 200+ minsan umaabot pa ng 600+
pero hindi ko din naman ramdam eh.
about sa lan card, well, I have not yet proven it pero, built-in Lan is just enough, ang mahalaga is updated and drivers ng Lan mo.

yung ping is not given, para siyang signal ng cellphone, hindi sineset ng mobile phone provide mo kung gaano kalakas ang signal mo sa cellphone mo, ganun din sa ping, hindi naseset ang ping, it just depends sa various factors I have mentioned above

Yup, recommended yun kasi may safety features yun. For example kapag malicious ang isang site na mapapasukan mo, hindi ka ididiretso ng Open DNS dun sa site na yun.
pero may ibang isolated problems like even some social networking sites eh nbblock nya kahit hindi naman dangerous.
Some cant play games from games sites kasi blocked din minsan sa Open DNS.
In my opinion, you can use your own judgement when using Open DNS, pero kung habol mo din yung safety feature nya then go for it

What I did was I change my setup to static IP. rapidshare now works.

ask ko lng kung anu ba recommended RSSI, RSCP, and Ec/Io na mkikita s ZTE Modem?? the higher the stats ba the better?
here is my stats for my zte modem:
RSSI – 76 dBm
RSCP – 80 dBm
Ec/Io – 4 dB
*indoor antenna po gmet ko. pro mas mtaas kz kesa s outdoor antenna.
gs2 ko lng mlman kung mas mtaas ba eh better ang signal and speed. d ko kz alam kung anong antenna ggmitin ko.
my nkpagsbi kz sken n technician na dpt daw ung RSSI 85 n ung maximum.. pag lumagpas daw eh mbagal n ung connection. pro i based on my observation, pra hindi naman gnun. prang pag mas mtaas mas ok..
help naman kung cnu my observation s stats ng modem nila.. thanks!

hello sir i’m using wireless broadband now for about a month now and yesterday lang ako nagka connection lagi gprs kasi pag wcdma na limited service lagi..sa zte site palipat lipat ng cell id ko 7641,8861 and 8573..the first two cell id’s nakakakuha ako ng hsdpa sa 8573 limited service..lagi nag titimeout and punta lagi sa 8573 wala [po ba sir solution na i fix ko na lang sya sa first two cell id’s para d na mawala connection ko??o kaya i block na lang yun 8573..i’m from talavera nueva ecija using zte mf600 modem with external antenna and my ip is 120.28.8.19. Nakakatawa kasi may bill na agad kahit d pa nagagamit.Hoping for your answer sir ,thanks in advance

mga sir, baket ganun ung CS Hotline ng globe? Hindi siya gumagana!! I tried calling 171 and 9198888 and it only beeps!! But when I called 171 with smart, It works! Di ko naman ma afford mkatawag kase nagtitipid ako… balak ko ipaputul to next next day…
I dunno peo sa umpisa lang siya mabilis… I tried checking my RSSI it’s playing at -69 to -73.5. Pero ung cell id ko nagbago. ibang iba dun sa nakalagay sa papel.
I’m very disappointed with their service. I tried to Email them but no one replies to me.
Ung speed ko pala is 1.5Kbps way too different from 512Kbps…

uhm first, isnt it na ang hotline ng Globe po is 919-8000 and not 919-8888, and 171 is i think not from globe, i think 112 is from globe, 171 is the directory service ata for all telecommunications eh.
kung kahapon po kayo naka ramdam ng slow connection well ako din po nakaramdam pero around 30 mins. lang and then back to normal again. baka sa location nyo lang po yan or you may want to try changing you dns servers.
A tip! — Never email them, no on would respond EVER. kung meron man, around 6 months before sila sumagot. I tried emailing them ng june 2008 i received a reply ng december 2008. “sorry daw sa late reply” according to the message. Tapos inquiry lang yun ng application sa kanila ha. nung time na nareceive ko yun almost 4 months na kami nakasubscribe sa kanila..
So dont email them, its either walang sasagot or late ang sagot jan.

I also checked din sa site nila kasi balak ko din mag inquire for Globe Broadband Tatoo, andun pa din yung fixed wireless broadband nasa “Extreme: Internet To The Max” Package siya, if you would read sa bottom portion may nakalagay na “where DSL is not available, Plan 995 internet only and 1295 bundle are at up to 512kbps, serviced via fixed wireless broadband” so aun yung globe wireless broadband package nila

Last saturday, napakabagal niya, but what I did was to go to the rooftop para makasagap ng malakas na signal, dun na din ako nag internet, the next day aus na ulit siya…
Ang basehan ko kasi, as long as yung cellphone ko displays a 3G signal bar, ibig sabihin malakas ang signal ng wireless broadband dun, nagkataon lang siguro na nag maintenance ang globe kasi around midnight na nangyari yun.
Up until now mabilis pa din. no problems at all…
Special DNS gamit ko, sometimes Back then Open DNS kaso nga lang, naka filter yung ibang sites na gusto ko puntahan kaya ayun, special dns na lang ako

hehe, that is the last thing that I can recommend, walang magagawa yang globe customer representatives jan… eto lang sasabihin nyan… “sir kasi location dependent and wireless globe natin so kung mahina ang signal sa inyo wala po tayong magagawa jan”

No, I dont recommend Auto DNS, Image compression and whatnot, well it just case to case basis. Baka location ang problem mo? Open DNS is one of the best dns out there.. just google “Open Dns” to see what I mean.

hmmm bago pa lang po ako sa globe.. mga ilang days pa lang..
kaso prang nakakabadtrip agad eh.. mabilis download speed koh.. umaabot sa 400+kbps.. pero putOl2x.. di ako makapaglaro ng online games ng maaus kasi palaging disconnect sa server.. hirap pa naman 2loy mag log`in sa silkroad online..
then sa GG poh.. ang sama ng ping ko.. 4 pings ako sa mata ng iba..
wala magpapasali sa akin sa mga game…
sinubukan ko po ung DNS tweak nyo.. pero ganun pa rin.. ginawa ko na lahat.. pinagpalit-palit ko na mga DNS pero mas lalong sumama..

sana ginawa mo before ka nag globe wireless nagpatest ka muna sa location mo ng signal, or kung wala man magtetest check mo ung 3G signal sa phone mo if ever 3G capable man and tignan mo kung malakas ang 3G signal, kasi sa 3G signal nakarely ang globe wireless broadband eh

nung nag test ako// mabilis naman ung connection.. kaya na enganyo ako mag globe kasi mabagal smartbro d2.. lalo na pag gabi..
btw.. malapit lang sa amin ang tower nila.. hmm.. may napapansin ako nag change un IP koh.. at pa iba iba connection speed sa iba ibang IP..

hmm..mukhang indi nman talaga bumilis ung globe eh? ang bagal nga ng sken. 280kbps lang ang speed nung aken nung nagtest ako.. hmm..luck sa DNS tweaking? as of now.. anuh nga ba ang mga DNS na gumagana pa sa Globe except sa OPen tsaka Special DNS?

Few weeks ago. I really had no problem with my connection. But just recently, about 2 days ago until now, Globe gave me headache! I cannot anymore log-in to MSN and YM?! Do you guys have problems like this too? Do you have any idea how to solve this? If you do, please respond. It’ll be a big help.

Wah, ou bumilis nga talaga ang internet. Pati pagdownload ko sa torrents eh nag x2-x3 ang speed niya kesa sa dati na 20-40kbps lang.
Kaso nga lang, badtrip ako ngayon… Pano ba ‘to?
Kasi gusto ko sana maglaro sa isang Online Game. Kaso, banned daw yung IP Address ko. Eh sure naman na nagsshare lang tayo lahat sa mga IP ng Globe. So talagang damay na ako dun sa gumawa ng isang illegal na bagay at naban yung IP na ginagamit nating lahat? XD

hehe, thanks for the help, by the way iaad ko lng kay johnny, I was able to download at rapidshare using globe wireless broadband pero madaling araw na. its possible talaga its just that pahirapan lang talaga, sa dami natin na globe wireless subscribers and sa dami ng nagdodownload, ika nga, blockbuster hit ang pagdownload sa file sharing sites.
oh and by the way, yung mga luma nating ip’s like the famous 203.177.91.252, akala natin nawala na, nalipat lang pala sa globe broadband tattoo.
may mga commenters sa mga broadband tattoo blog posts ko at nakikita ko mga IP address nila, and ang gamit nila is ung dati natin ginagamit dito sa ZTE MF600 modem natin….
I am planning to buy a globe tattoo para ma try ko rin ung speed nya compared to our planned wireless. Somehow a good move for globe kasi nga hindi nman ganun kadami ang gumagamit ng globe tattoo, even though kahapon nung nagtanong tanong ako halos puro sold out maski sa globe center mismo..
panigurado machochoke and ip’s pagnagkaganun and mararamdaman ng globe tattoo users ung naramdaman natin nung tau gumagamit ng lumang IP’s hehe.

hellow po matagal na po akong nagbabasa sa mga post nyo.and this is ,my 1st time to post . thnks po and more power dahil helpfull tips po lahat..
my ask lng po ako about po sa pag papaterminate ng connection and 1month na ang nakakalipas nung pinaterminate po ng ate ko ang globeliness wireless nimin and were are using mf600. naasar napo kasi yung ate dahil sa sobrang pangit ng service ng globeliness dito samin. pasig place po kami. and about po sa pagpapaterminate ng connection ok naman po meron naman recieve and question kung bakit ipapaterminate.. so my sister rply and sinabi nya lahat ang naging problem them ang sabi panga ng globe ung billing for the month of march and may ay di na namin babayaran. eh syempre alana problem them tinabi namin ung unit..
then 3weeks na di panila kunuha ung unit. then one night i try to connect it to try kung meron pang connection and then meron pa.. nakakabahala lng po kasi baka meron nanamang dumating na billing BTW naka pldtmydsl nakami ngayun
and paano po ba ito kasi nkalagay sa contract kung magpapaterminate kami ay dapat isauli namin ung unit ng maayos.. ok nman maayus naman kaso dipa sya putol meron parin syang connection ganun batalaga inaabot ng ilang buwan pag magpapaterminate ka. and sabi pa ng kaibigan ko dinadaw kukunin ung unit kasi sakanila dinakinuha siya din pinaputol na nya dahil nga nakakaasar nasya

first of all, thanks for appreciatiing my posts glad that it helped you somehow.
now my next question is:
Pano nyo po ba pinaterminate ung Globe Wireless nyo po? If it is thru phone lang, rest assured… hindi pa nila iteterminate yan..
Pero kung personally nyo papa terminate yan, may papers pa kau na fifillup-an and hindi nyo un mafifill-upan unless maibigay nyo sa kanila ung unit ng modem.. Dun sa termination paper kasi magpipirmahan kau nung globe agent dun sa paper na pinapaterminate nyo na talaga ung account nyo.
yung paper na yun ang magiging evidence nyo na hindi na kau nakasubscribe sa Globe Wireless, hence, you now have the right na hindi bayaran ung mga susunod na bills nyo (when i say “susunod” it means ung following months na wala na sa inyo ung modem. it does not mean na wala ka na babayaran na bill after ipa terminate, meron ka pa babayaran na one last bill kasi ang cut off nila is every 25th of the month eh. so it means na if for example you terminated it on 15th of the month, babayaran nyo po un last bill nyo from 1st-15th of the month, sila na magbabawas at magcocompute ng bill yo from 1-15th, nagamit man po un or hindi as long as may connection nung 1-15th)
from your post, hindi mo po nabanggit na may pinirmahan and finill-upan kau na paper so I must assume na hindi nyo pinadisconnect un personally.

tanong ko lng pa sa mga globe user dito kung parati bang green ung network indicator nyo sa mga bittorrent client nyo.
Date kase eh di man lng me mka green khit well seeded ang torrent, pero sa june parating green kung well seeded ung torrent at nakaka 500kbps(3 times a week, duration: 2-5 hours) ang max DL speed ko, at most of the time 200kbps lowest na ang 100kbps!!
pero weird, bkit ang ganda ng speed ko khit na blink ung RSSI ko?(note: may external antenna me at OPEN DNS w/ good IP ang gamet ko)

pagnagbi-blink ang RSSI led (Radio Signal Strength Indicator) ibig sabihin nyan eh mahina signal mo sa lugar nyo.
meron ba u antenna ng MF600, ako meron pero ngayon nagbi-blink parati ung RSSI ko at sa tingin ko eh la diperensya ang speed ng connection khit nablink o hindi, kase nakaka 400kbps me sa madaling araw khit na nablink (di tulad ng unang buwan ng subcription ko na nakaka 1mbps kapag madaling araw)
tpos minsan di n blink 50kbps nmn o la talaga, wierd grabe!

been reading this thread long ago eversince yung GLOBE net namin ay halos di na maka browse at laging intermittent.
i use all whats been posted here try manually from TCP/Ip manually configured plus yung zte modem page to also manual config.
everything walang pagbabago.
my external antenna din kami
natawagan ko na ang CSR at pinuntahan na din nila ang unit at subscription.
wala pa din
isa lang ang ibig sabihin
change to other internet services like PLDT, BAYANTEl etc etc.
dati kaming naka smartBRO
since need namin ng landphone
napilitang mag switch sa globe
what happened next hirap na kaming kumuha sa PLDT for another subscription..(pending balances) sheett.

waah.. kapapakabit ko lang ng globe broadband at bago naman itong modem. hindi zte. kundi yung huawei na B933. at wala sa config na puedeng palitan ang APN o DNS, waaah. anybody with same model of modem? so far medyo okey naman speed. kinonek ko rin sa switch hub at wireless access point para makakonek ng wifi sa notebook at celfon, hehe! ayos!

Pangit ang Globe Broadband !!! Kung gusto nyo,, un gumagamit ng Globe Modem MF600 ZTE pa open line nalng ninyo magamit nyo pa sa ibang network like Smart 3G, Sun Broadband etc… Or kung Talagang Gusto ninyo Bumilis internet ng GLOBE at mga Actions nila wag Kayo dito Magreklamo kung hindi Sa MEDIA ipa TV nyo or Isumbong sa NTC or DTI , kasi nagbabayad tayo ng tama pero un serbisyo nila di sapat dun sa binbayad natin diba?? think of it !!! mag Email kayo sa ABS CBN or GMA 7, Need lang ng maraming REKLAMO para ma AKSYON yan, Kung yun SPAM text na nireklamo naaksyunan, internet pa kaya na halos pareho lang sa service nila diba?? Spread lang ninyo sa LAHat na MAgreklamo sa NTC at sa mga MEDIA… ang panloloko ng GLOBE BROADBAD ! GLOBE SUPER BAGAL INTERNET 1kbps … NILOLOKO TAYO NG GLOBE ! pag tatawag ka sa 029198888 lagi sinasabi Ginagawa un system or RESTORATION db??? halos walang araw na di nila ginagawa pero hindi naman, para pagtakpan lang un mga PAnloloko nila…. ayaw nila aminin na talagang palpak un mga modem modem nila na yan…. nagtitipid sila sa BANDWITH … bakit di nila itodo un Banwith ng signal db? ang isang CELLSITE for 3G internet like Globe ay good for 100 subscribers lang po un, pag lumampas sa 100 persons, babagal na.. kaya nga naglipana mga CELLsites sa pinas eh para jan,, kaso ilan lang un gumagana for internet…NOW isang cellsite halos isang libong subscribers ang nag hahatihati sa signal ng broadband..panu di babagal…. Meron sigurong problem yung globe pag dating sa network nila pero mahirap i tweak ng tulad natin lalo nat di naman tayo nag config ng network nila. p
1. ping ko http://www.yahoo.com – reply
ibig sabihin ok DNS nila kasi na reresolved nila yung hostname
2. ping ko din yung 4.2.2.1 – reply
ibig sabihin kahit i translate sa IP naping pa din public IP
3. ping nyo dns ng globe. – reply
mababa ang MS speed it means na may communication tayo papunta sa gateway papuntang DNS server nila.
di kaya spyware ito? try nyo din po. kasi pag ganun yung error it means baka may nainfect na tyo ng spyware.
sa speed issue naman po. sa globe na talaga yun. try nyo i ping dns / gateway nila.
pag puro request time out ibig sabihin pangit link natin sa kanila. intermittent. nag loloose yung signal.
SPYWARE, VIRUS O NETWORK problem lang yan….

Info lang po. sa mga gumagamit ng wireless o kaya wifi try nyo change ng channel yung Wifi nyo kasi nakaka affect yung sa performance ng Globe WIMAX Etc. ilayo nyo din yung globe device nyo sa mga electronic devices. it may affect the signal from globe.

Hello. I just found your site by googling it..i have this connection prob din. im on Globe Wireless Broadband, 512Kbps Plan – Huawei B933.. Connected ung modem pero Page cannot be displayed everytime na magbbrowse ako.. its been 2 weeks na ganito. nagpunta na sa bahay ung Tech, pero di nila nagawa.Control Panel lang ginalaw tapos, babalik n lng daw sila..rereport nila sa 2nd level tech., pero hanggang ngayon, walang dumadating. ive been calling their hotline, pero kung anu anong dahilan sinasabi nila sakin. restoration daw..hay… tagal na pala netong thread mo, pero still, di pa din nagagawan ng solusyon ang prob ng mga GLOBE Braodband user..
