Globe Wireless Broadband – Selective Browsing

Ok so, I woke up around 10 am and to my surprise, my internet connection was crappy.. very. I can see that my wireless modem can connect to the internet, but I could not browse anything (well maybe a few, as in few, 2 sites to be exact, google.com and lycos mail). All the bad things, nightmares, whatever you call it, that other globe wireless users are crying out load, are beginning to sunk in to my head. All of the ramblings are beginning to sink in my head. I was so frustrated that I was tempted to call the customer service representatives of globe, but HELL NO!, these representatives or whatever they call themselves, does not know a thing! and I mean it. Why? well they all have the same script, “Our system is having service upgrade / please monitor it for 24 to 48 hours / our technician will arrive at your place within 24 hours”… and the like. Well so much of those candy coated lies!! Don’t assume that customers who complain does not know anything (most of them do, mind you), and dont assume that you (csr) know everything, matter of fact its the other way around. I know Im mean but its either you agree with me or disagree with the rest of the world.

Im sorry about those csr’s that really do know what they are doing, but its just that you will be branded like the incompetent ones since the fault of one usually is the fault of all (specially if its a bad thing).
I always do try to fix everything myself first before calling for any help, in this case, the crappy selective browsing of globe wireless broadband. What I did was to tinker with the settings of my ZTE MF600 modem to see if it can somehow solve the problem. Successfully I managed to get an internet connection, but still is ot fast enough to browse the usual photo heavy or video heavy sites, but just enough for me to browse for help online through forums who also share the same problem.
And of course like what they say “Google is your friend”. I was able to fix my modem (ZTE MF600) plus with whopping speeds that exceeds the planned speed that I applied for. What I found out was that it was a DNS server problem. So instead of auto configuring the DNS properties, I set it manually thru the modem. Below is the list of DNS values that works for Globe Wireless Broadband users:
Globe DNS:
202.52.163.6 Primary
202.52.163.7 Secondary
202.126.40.5 Primary
202.95.226.66 Secondary
202.52.162.39 Primary
202.52.162.40 Secondary
202.95.226.66 Primary
202.95.226.77 Secondary
Special DNS Servers:
4.2.2.1
4.2.2.2
Open DNS:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Well I’ll still monitor if there will be any changes in the speed and browsing behavior. So if there are any of you that has the same problem but still can’t fix it, just leave a comment and I’ll help you soon as I can.

Well just to compare with PLDT. I just transfered house. And I needed DSL badly. I asked the management office of the compound, they mentioned that all areas are pre-wired for PLDT line and internet as they have a contract with PLDT. It would only take them 3 days to install. I beleived it because this was my experience with my old house, which was pre-wired also.
I called up PLDT to transfer my line from old house to new house. They told me it will take 2-3 weeks for parallel transfer, I will have change of number, and my billing continues, plus 2k plus transfer fee $etc. $etc.. I said yes.
After 16 calls and 6 weeks wala pa ring nangyari. They keep on asking my lanline to contact me. (How bobo naman siguro.. wala pa nga akong land line dahil sa kanila.. hi hingan ako land line number…)
Then few more calls, hingi nang hingi nang cell number and my address. Sabi ko “marunong kang mag basa miss? basahin mo po yung call logs nang account ko at bilangin po ang tawag. Siguro naman sa 16 calls completo nang ang lahat nang information na kailangan…”.
Ang laging sagot, there is a system error and the service order is not made. I always hear “Gagawin ko na po ang service order. Call us again after 24 to 48 hours.”, meron pang isa, with immiediate handling..” Sabi ko “ilang service order ba iyan.. what happened to the other service orders… ” and same answer.. eh kung ganon bakit siya gagawa nang service order ulit kung nag error ang systema nila..
I even asked, do I still get billed for the for this? The CSR said yes… WTF….this one really made my day. I rush to the nearest globe office, I ended up applying for globe wireless broadband and got it installed in 3 days. They said my application needs to be verified first for signal quality to be sure, although they already checked that my neighbors have subscriptions already.
They inspected the area and tested signal first before installing the unit. I got 60 money back guarantee so if you are not happy with in 60 day, you only pay what you used prorated.
So far, this is my first week, signal is ok. I called up CSR of globe a couple of times, definitely they are more intuitive than PLDTs CSR.
Common to both, the best CSR’s are the CSR in their business office. Globe CSR in Globe tower is best. PLDT CSR in PLDT Tower also answered good and honest, immiediately gave the pros and cons and my choices. I just gave my phone no, she already check the call logs and appologize and she already knew that I wanted to cut the line, thus she just facilitated the cutting of the line. Also she said, I will not get billed for the lost month.
Just a reminder, hindi kasalan nang CSR, when you call them just remember they can only answer what they know, iwasan sigawan po sila, but again sometimes emotion takes over, and I am guilty =). Sana i-train silang mabuti at sana, pag hindi pwede or hindi mangayari sasabihin agad, so we can get other options. If you call them and you do not get the right answer, just do not call them because it would be useless..and waste of time. If you are really mad, just go to their biggest and most busy office. Make your complain in really loud and scandalouse voice, para lahat nang new customer aalis and offcourse they do not want that to happen =).
