Its been 2 months since I have purchased and used the Encore Wireless Router G (ENHWI-G2) from CDR – King. So far so good, no hints of impending problem at all. Sometimes the router is on round the clock, and it still works at its peak, no drop connections and whatnot.
In my opinion the range of the Encore Wireless Router G‘s signal is around 30 meters here at my place using its bundled 2dBi dipole antenna along with wall and room interferences.
I personally think that this router can still increase its capabilities if I would opt to replace its antenna with a longer one, also available on cdr – king or by using the Windsurfer Wifi – Booster.
As for me, I really got a bang for the buck by getting this wireless router from cdr – king. I got this Wireless G router for a whopping 1,380.00 PHP. Cheapest so far compared to other branded wireless routers such as D-Link and Linksys to name a few.
The only thing that can differentiate this router against the top brands is when it comes to quality. I am yet to find out if the quality of this router can be at par with the top networking hardware brands out there.
But for my opinion, I think this Encore Wireless Router G (ENHWI-G2) could go against the top brands since Encore itself is focused on networking products.
Please bear in mind that Encore is just being resold by CDR – King and is not manufactured by CDR – King itself. Matter of fact, CDR – King has its own version of Wireless Routers at a much cheaper prices ranging from 600.00 – 800.00 PHP
My verdict for this product – Bang for the Buck

hi. i bought an ENHWI-G2 encore wireless router from cd-r king last november 2008. and badly, up to this moment, not a single successful attempt of accessing the internet via the wireless router. yes, the router’s been with me for 3 months already and still haven’t used it. sigh. i’ve read the above discussions and i think my case was somewhat similar with chris. i also have a 1mbps wired globelines connection, have installed the router to my laptop, and just the same, could only connect locally. i am really having a hard time for months now. i tried seeking cd-r king’s help and went to one of their stores last year but still the problem has not been resolved. i haven’t tried contacting globelines though.
hope you guys could help. thanks.

if you have questions regarding the router, like myself, i call the cdr-king wireless assistance people. they know what to do, and they are luckily patient enough to put up with my ignorance..

[...] You have got an instant wireless signal booster, it works on your ZTE MF600 and/or your router. [...]

Hi Kitzmejia!
The first step na dapat mo gawin is tanggalin mo yung prolink modem mo sa encore router, so that means na ang nakaconnect lang is yung pc mo sa router.
Then access your router again by typing 192.168.1.1, this time hindi na lalabas yung PROLINK config since hindi na siya connected sa Encore router mo. So that means you are back into the Encore router settings.
Next step is run the SETUP WIZARD again hanggang sa umabot ka sa step 3 (LAN INTERFACE SETUP). Pagdating mo sa step 3 meron dun 2 windows (IP ADDRESS and SUBNET MASK)
Dun sa IP ADDRESS assuming wala ka pinalitan and was able to login with the 192.168.1.1, ang dapat nakalagay jan ngayun in 192.168.1.1.
Ang trick ngaun jan is PALITAN MO UNG IP ADDRESS VALUE jan. Anything between 192.168.2.1 – 192.168.255.1. Yup yung second to the last value ng IP address mo ang dapat mo palitan para hindi sya maging ka value ng prolink modem mo.
After nun, proceed hanggang sa last step, and then before mo i-click yung finish, i-connect mo na yung PROLINK MODEM mo and wait for it to reset.
To reset means lalabas ulit ung login window at mawawala ulit yung connection mo. Wait for a minute or two hanggang sa makapag commence yung router mo ulit.
But that is a good sign since we are now sure that tama ang process na ginagawa mo. HINDI KA NA MAKAKAPAG LOGIN ULIT SA ROUTER UNLESS ITTYPE MO YUNG TAMANG IP ADDRESS SA WEB BROWSER MO.
When we say “tama” means ittype mo sa web browser mo yung IP Address na ipinalit mo dun sa STEP NUMBER 3.
after all of that try browsing ulit, and then try accessing yung router mo, if walang problem.. Congratulations! hehehe
Hope that helps!

what’s the best way i can do with it? ang pagrereset ba ang best remedy?
thanks in advance.

Hi Aaron,
Regarding your question, yup you can virtually use any wireless router for your WiFi needs.
Just make sure that it is a Wireless Broadband Router and not an AP (access Point)
Actually I am using this router that I bought on CDR King, and from what I can say I am well completely satisfied with it!

hi kathy,
you need to configure it first before connecting it so that you would be able to use the modem along with the wireless router
