40 KPH On Commonwealth Avenue Is Ridiculous

I have drove along Commonwealth Avenue back then when I have had my duty at Far Eastern University Hospital and Tala Leprosarium in Northern Caloocan, I can therefore say that 40 speed limit is rather insane.
I am thinking if they have mistakenly interpreted 40 kph against 40 mph (which is around 60 kph). Imagine jeepneys and buses crawling at that speed in the very wide highway of Commonwealth Avenue.
If they were to implement this, buses and jeepneys should also have their own lanes and should not use the lanes intended for private drivers like me, since imagine a highway cluttered with crawling PUV’s, vehicles would just get clogged in the long run, specially when rush hour comes.
40 kph is a bit ridiculous though, but thankfully only PUV’s are affected with this speed limit. It’s not just kinda slow, but 40 kph is too slow for a big road, lets just say that it should have been the minimum and 60 kph as the maximum. Commonwealth avenue is so wide that it is very tempting to blast your engines at full speed whenever you’re driving there that 40 kph would seem to be like you are running on 10 – 20 kph on a normal city road.
Let’s just see if this implementation by LTO, LTFRB and PNP Highway Patrol Group works or not.

geez. Commonwealth is so damn wide that driving there at 40kph doesn’t make sense at all — magmumukha ka lang engot.

I agree with you kisty! plus these PUV’s should also have their own lanes like in edsa, sometimes buses and jeepneys also invade the private vehicle’s lanes! sometimes they are so immoral

In my opinion, this 40 KPH on Commonwealth should only affect the Public Utility Transportation.
They are the ones who usually cause the traffic and if you ask me, their speed usually scare me. I remembered the first time I rode a bus going to Commonwealth, the speed was too fast that when we had to go down, my body feels like being dragged in front of the bus.
