I was playing Metal Gear Solid: Substance at my precious PS2, when I finally beat the game “yet again” and was able to get the stealth camouflage, it came to mind that if this stealth camouflage would be applied in real life then I definitely would want one. Who wouldn’t want to sneak up to any place without being seen, remember Harry Potter when he got the invisibility cloak? it’s the same as Solid Snake’s stealth camouflage, and thinking about it, I thought, it will take at least around 10 or more years until this kind of technology will be born, but boy was I so damn wrong! This kind of invisibility cloak is already on its beta stages!

The invisibility cloak is not considered as a fantasy thing anymore, but a reality. Imagine that, it’s a very big leap in the advancement of science but somehow it way too creepy when this kind of technology would fall into the wrong hands.

Is it really true? Yup! The scientists at University of California Berkeley have created materials that could bend light! Experiments have already been conducted the said invisibility technology is on progress.

How does it work? Well as a summarization for how it works is that it uses metamaterials that bends light just like the properties of water, therefore you will be able to see the objects behind the wearer of the cloak. More information are available here and here.

This invisibility cloak as of now still is on its early stages so as expected this technology has so many limitations, one of its biggest limitation is that the wearer of the cloak would stay invisible only in a certain angle.

This invisibility cloak is something to look out for in the near future, well all the thoughts about this kind of technology showing up after 10 or more years is already obsolete, in fact maybe ten years from now, this invisibility cloak is already widely used worldwide particularly in the army.
