2 weeks away, and its time for the 2008 UAAP Cheerdance competition. The schedule will be on September 7, 2008 according to Araneta Coliseum’s list of events. Scarcity of tickets will again be felt as the 2008 (Season 71) uaap cheerdance competition comes near. Most individuals who are still studying in their own representing UAAP schools will have the benefit to buy tickets at their own alma mater, but still the inevitable do happen specially if you decided to buy tickets when the season 71 cheering competition is already near.

Here’s a tip, try to anticipate and update the time when tickets will be available either at your own representing university or at Araneta coliseum itself. If you decided to buy tickets at around 4 to 7 days before the said event will decrease your chance on getting the ticket that you want. Usually, come 7 days before, all good seating tickets or what as known as the reserved seating tickets like the Patron and Lower Box, will usually be unavailable, specially to the schools that had been doing good in cheerdance competition such as University of the Philippines ( UP ), University of Santo Tomas ( UST ), and Far Eastern University ( FEU ).

Another trend that has been happening ever since, is controlling the supply of tickets of the participating schools. Usually if you were not a part of that representing school, either a student, faculty or whatnot, then you will have a slim chance of getting any tickets, this is to prevent other competing schools and outsiders from getting any seats that should have been for the participating school.

Another trend is that araneta does not give the “reservation” benefit for cheering competition events. So if ever you thought of calling Araneta Colseum, you will be declined to reserve for a ticket and they will just tell you to come to said date and you will have to stand in a very long line of other individuals who also wants to get a ticket for the cheering competition. Usually if you dont have any other choice, then you will have to come early at araneta just to fall in line for the tickets, as in early. Usually people fall in line a day before the said event, that is why if you thought you were there early, better think again, someone is there and have been there waiting in line longer than you.

Another reminder is that if you have friends that are asking favours from you to buy them ticket for the particular cheering competition event, say “no” why? its because every season of the uaap cheerdance competition, araneta coliseum always and I mean always, implement the 1 is to 1 policy, or one ticket per person only, and most of the time the only available tickets for the said event will be the upper box B seating and the general admission or bleachers seating. So if your friends want to have a ticket, its much more better to get a ticket in groups.

If all else fails, then there is always the infamous ‘Scalpers“. These scalpers are a little bit reliable though when the going gets tough. Scalpers never sells any fake or counterfeit tickets, they just price the tickets around twice up to thrice (depending on them) the tickets that they are selling. They resell the tickets for around 200 % to 300 % rebate. This scalpers are one of those people who falls in line the earliest at the time of the event, most of them work in groups, and most of them falls in line in different ticket booths, in that way they will have more tickets that can be sold to those frustrated buyers. What they do is bid for the price of the ticket, and the highest bidder wins the ticket. Scalping is illegal though that is why you have to be observant yourself when looking for scalpers. Often they are the ones who are staying quiet in one spot until an individual spots them and recognizes them as scalpers or sometimes they are the one who looks for those desperate people who will pay for more than the real alloted price just to get a ticket.

Same as the schools, scalpers themselves control their supply, they follow the supply and demand rule, the higher the demand and smaller the supply the higher the price, but beware though because these scalpers sometimes do abuse you and will reall leave a very big hole in your pockets.

So, as early as now, try to anticipate the release of tickets, remember “daig ng maagap ang masipag”
